Dokuz Eylül University Research Information System: Preview

Professor Hakan Çörekcioğlu completed his undergraduate studies in the Department of Philosophy at Ege University. He received both his master’s and doctoral degrees from the Department of Philosophy at Ege University’s Institute of Social Sciences. His master’s thesis focused on Renaissance philosophy, while his doctoral dissertation examined Kant’s political philosophy. In 2011, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor in Philosophy.

With an extended doctoral research scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), he first completed preparatory studies at the Goethe-Institut Bremen and the University of Bremen. He subsequently worked as a visiting researcher in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Hamburg, where he pursued his doctoral project on Kant’s political philosophy. He was also awarded DAAD’s permanent Fachliteratur grant.

In later years, he returned to the University of Hamburg on DAAD postdoctoral scholarships to conduct research on the political function of narrative in the works of Walter Benjamin and Hannah Arendt, as well as on international law in Kant and Hegel. He participated as a guest speaker in seminars held by the Department of Philosophy at the University of Hamburg and taught undergraduate and graduate courses at the University of Oradea and Eskişehir Osmangazi University.

Professor Çörekcioğlu has held academic positions at Ege University and Adnan Menderes University. He currently continues his teaching and research as a faculty member at Dokuz Eylül University. His principal research interests include Kant and German Idealism, political philosophy, Renaissance culture, utopian thought, the history of modern philosophy, artificial intelligence, and digitalisation.

His published books include:

Professor Çörekcioğlu is one of the founders of the Interdisciplinary Philosophy Education Cooperative (DAF). He is also a member of the Turkish Kant Society and the DAAD Alumni network. He has served as a referee and as a member of the scientific and advisory boards of various philosophy journals. He has also served as a jury member for project competitions organised by TÜBİTAK. He currently works as a field editor for the Journal of Dokuz Eylül University Institute of Social Sciences.
